International Yoga Day Celebrated at Maccon Nursing College
Maccon Nursing College proudly celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21st with great energy and participation from students and faculty.
This year’s theme, Yoga for One Earth, One Health, focused on the role of yoga in building both personal well-being and a healthier community.
The rally, which was led by the illustrious Ms. Gautami, a celebrated actress and a resilient cancer survivor, quickly became the talk of the town. Gautami’s presence brought an added layer of visibility and credibility to the cause. Her personal journey as a cancer survivor resonated deeply with many, and her advocacy for breastfeeding as a crucial aspect of infant health and maternal well-being was both inspiring and impactful.
The event was made more special by the presence of Dr. Narayanasamy, Vice Chancellor of Dr. MGR Medical University, who was invited as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the growing importance of yoga in daily life and its long-term health benefits, especially for those in the healthcare profession.
The Chief Guest, faculty, and students actively took part in a guided yoga session, led by a trained instructor. It was a calming and energizing experience that brought everyone together in the spirit of wellness.
Following the session, students performed a special yoga demonstration, showcasing complex asanas with great grace and discipline. Their performance reflected dedication, balance and strength. These students were specially felicitated by the Chief Guest in appreciation of their efforts.
The event concluded with a token of appreciation presented to Dr. Narayanasamy by the college, thanking him for his presence and encouraging words.
The celebration served as a beautiful reminder of how yoga can unite the mind and body and bring a positive shift in lifestyle – values that Maccon continues to promote among its students.
